Colleen Trevino, PhD, NP is an Associate Professor of Surgery (Trauma and Acute Care Surgery) at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a trauma outcomes researcher focused on improving recovery, care quality, and long-term outcomes after traumatic injury and emergency general surgery. Her work examines biopsychosocial mechanisms underlying the transition from acute to chronic pain, including predictors, biomarkers, and stress responses. Using epidemiology, implementation science, and health systems innovation, she advances multidisciplinary trauma survivorship models, with a focus on comprehensive care for firearm injury survivors. Her contributions include evidence-based clinical guidelines, trauma-informed opioid stewardship, and innovative post-discharge care models that promote continuity, equity, and patient-centered outcomes.
